Prawns Patia (Kolmi-no-patio)

 


Ingredients (for 3 servings):

  • Prawns - 250 gms
  • Onions -  3
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Curry leaves - 10
  • Kashmiri Chillies - 2
  • Green Chillies - 2-3
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Garlic - 5 cloves
  • Ginger paste - 1 tsp
  • Corriander - 1/2 Cup
  • Potatoes (Cut into 1 inch cubes) - 2
  • Spices -
     Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1 tsp

     Tumeric Powder - 1/2 tsp

     Dhanajeera Powder - 1 tsp

     Sambhar Powder - 1/2 tsp

     Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp

  • Salt to Taste 
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 5 tbsp
Method -

  • Marinate the prawns with all the powder spices and salt for 1/2-1 hr.
  • Add oil in a utensil , heat it and add finely chopped garlic and green chillies , crush the kashmiri chillies and add cumin seeds and curry leaves.
  • Let it fry for 2 minutes and add finely chopped onions.
  • After the onions turn golden-brown , add finely chopped tomatoes to it.
  • After the tomatoes soften , add ginger paste and sugar to it and let it cook for 5 mins.
  • Add the marinated prawns and the potato cubes to it and let it cook for 5 minutes after which add a glass of water and let it cook till the potatoes soften.
  • Just before turning off the stove , add finely chopped corriander leaves to it.
