Sagan Ni Sev (Vermicelli)
Sagan Ni Sev is a delicious sweet dish made by Parsis on occasions like
birthdays and anniversaries . It is the first thing made in the morning for
such occasions . It is usually served with curd by Parsis. Let us have a
look at its recipe !
Ingredients (3 Servings) :
- Unroasted Fine Quality Vermicelli - 100-125 g
- Ghee - 2-3 Tbsp
- Green Cardamom (Chhoti Elaichi) Powder - 1/4th Tsp
- Nutmeg (Jaifal) Powder - 1-2 Pinches
- Vanilla Essence - 5 Drops
- Ice cream Essence - 5 Drops
- Rose Essence - 5 Drops
- Almonds - 6-7 Pieces
- Cashew nuts and Raisins (optional)
- Sugar - 1/2 cup (Depending on your taste)
Method :
- Break the unroasted vermicelli into tiny pieces and add it to a pan with ghee in it.
- Roast it till the vermicelli turns brown as seen in the picture.
- Add water till it reaches the level a little above the vermicelli and let it cook on low flame with the lid covered.
- Once all the water has got soaked up , add sugar , nutmeg powder and green cardamom powder and let it cook till the sugar melts.
- Shut the stove and add all the essences to it and mix it thoroughly.
- Finely slice the almonds and fry it in a tiny utensil with a bit of ghee in it just for 2 minutes on low flame.
- Sprinkle it over the ready vermicelli and it's ready to serve.
