Kesar Pista Sabudana Kheer


Sabudana Kheer is a easy to make and delicious sweet dish relished by people all over India. It is supposed to be a Kheer that cools down the body due to the sabudana in it. Let us have a look at this short and simple recipe.

Ingredients (3-4 servings) :
  • Sabudana - 1/2 Cup
  • Milk - 1 Litre
  • Kesar - 1 Pinch
  • Green Cardamom (chhoti Elaichi) Powder - 1 Tsp
  • Pistachios (Pista) - 10
  • Sugar - 1/3 Cup
Method :
  • Soak the sabudana in water for 3 hours.
  • Boil the milk , add sugar to it and add sabudana to it.
  • Reduce the milk on low flame , stirring it continuously till 3/4th of it remains.
  • Add green cardamom powder and saffron to it.
  • Let it cook for 10 minutes , stirring it continuosly.
  • After it is cooked , pour the kheer into serving bowls and garnish it with finely chopped pistachios.
  • After it cools down , refrigerate it for 3 hours or more.


  1. You had poured some color to make it yellowish?...or safron is enough to do the job?

    1. I haven't added any colour to it as the saffron used was pure. It depends on the quality of saffron.
