Tomato Rice

 




Ingredients (3-4 Servings)
  • Rice - 3-4 Cups
  • Onions - 3-4
  • Tomatoes - 6-7
  • Cumin Seeds (Jeera) - 1 Tbsp
  • Cinamon Stick - 3 Inches
  • Green Cardamom (Chhoti Elaichi) - 3-4 
  • Black Cardamom (Badi Elaichi) - 2
  • Clove (Laung) - 5-6
  • Black Pepper - 6-7
  • Green Chillies - 3-4
  • Coriander Leaves - 1/2 Cup
  • Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Ginger Paste - 1 Tsp
  • Garlic - 7-8
  • Sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 5-6 Tbsp
Method :
  • Heat oil in a cooker and add green cardamom , black cardamom , cloves , cinamon stick and black pepper , cumin seeds , green chillies and finely chopped garlic to it and fry them for 2 minutes.
  • Add finely chopped onions to it and fry them till they are golden-brown.
  • Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook them till they are soft.
  • Add sugar , salt and ginger paste to it and fry them for 2 minutes.
  • Add coriander leaves and soaked rice.
  • Add Kashmiri chilli powder and garam masala powder and let them fry for about 2 minutes and add water enough to cover the whole mixture.
  • Pressure cook it for 1 whistle and for 5 minutes on low flame.
  • After the pressure is released from it , it is good to serve !
Tomato rice tastes good with Papad and Raita.
