Koota Ma Papeta
Koota is a tiny dried fish available in the Indian markets . Though it is tiny , it is really delicious and gives out a strong fishy flavour. It is used for making Kebabs too. Have a look at the recipe of Koota Ma Papeta.
Ingredients (3 Servings) :
- Koota Fish - 250 g
- Potatoes - 2-3
- Onions - 3
- Curry Leaves - 3-4 Stems
- Mustard Seeds (Rai) - 1 Tbsp
- Cumin Seeds (Jeera) - 1 Tbsp
- Ginger Paste - 1/2 Tsp
- Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Green Chillies - 3-4
- Coriander Leaves - 1/4th Cup
- Sugar - 1 Tsp
- Salt to Taste
Method :
- Wash the koota under running water and soak them in water for 5 minutes.
- Drain the water and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a utensil and add finely chopped green chillies , mustard seeds , cumin seeds and curry leaves to it.
- Add finely chopped onions to it and fry them till they are golden-brown.
- Add sugar , ginger paste , turmeric powder and Kashmiri chilli Powder and fry them till the oil separates from the spices.
- Now , add the koota and chopped potatoes and mix them thoroughly , cover it with a lid and let it cook till the potatoes are soft.
- Add salt to it. (Lesser than the usual as the koota already contains adequate salt)
- Add coriander leaves to it , 2 minutes before you turn off the stove.
