Tandoori Chicken (Without Tandoor or Oven)
Here is a recipe of Tandoori Chicken which is made without using a tandoor or
an oven , yet tastes similar to the tandoori chicken served in hotels.
Ingredients (3 Servings) :
- Chicken full Leg Pieces - 3
- Powdered Spices - Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1 tsp , Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp , Dhanajeera Powder - 1 Tsp , Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 Tbsp
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Curd (Dahi) - 1/2 Cup
- Oil
Method :
- Take 1 Tbsp oil in a plate and add all the ingredients except chicken and mix well.
- Put light cuts on each piece of chicken on both sides and marinate them with the mixture.
- Either refrigerate them overnight or at least marinate them for around 30 minutes.
- Heat 1-2 Tbsp oil in a non-stick pan and fry the chicken on both sides till the chicken is cooked halfway.
- Take a baking wire stand and put it on the stove. Put the half-cooked chicken pieces on it and cook them on direct flame till they completely done on both sides .
- While the chicken is being cooked , take a small piece of coal and heat it for around 15-20 minutes.
- Put all chicken pieces in a plate in a way that there is space in between for the coal utensil.
- Place the burning coal in a tiny utensil and put it in centre of the plate as shown in the picture and immediately pour 1 tsp ghee over the coal and immediately cover it tightly with another plate. Leave it for 5-7 minutes.
- Now , open the plate and remove the coal utensil.
