Matar Paneer
Matar Paneer is a vegetarian Mughlai dish relished by all. It can be made at home with simple ingredients and tastes like the dish served at restaurants. Have a look at its recipe.
Ingredients (3-4 Servings) :
- Fresh Paneer - 250 g
- Green Peas (Matar)- 250 g
- Onions - 3
- Tomatoes - 2
- Green Chillies - 2
- Kashmiri Chilli - 1
- Whole Garam Masalas - Cinamon (Tej) - 2 inch piece, Green Cardamom (Chhoti Elaichi) - 3-4, Cloves (Laung)- 3-4, Whole Black Pepper - 7-8
- Coriander Leaves - 1/2 Cup
- Garlic - 7-8 Cloves
- Ginger paste - 1/2 Tsp
- Cashew Nuts - 8-10
- Cumin Seeds (Jeera) - 1 Tbsp
- Curd (Dahi) - 1/2 Cup
- Saffron (Optional) - 1 Pinch
- Sugar - 2 Tbsp
- Salt to Taste
- Oil - 4-5 Tbsp
- Powdered Spices - Turmeric Powder (1/2 Tsp), Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tsp, garam Masala Powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Tomato Ketchup - 2 Tbsp
Method :
- Heat oil in a utensil and add the whole garam masalas, cumin seeds, Kashmiri chilli, green chillies, chopped garlic, roughly chopped onions , roughly chopped tomatoes, roughly chopped coriander, cashew nuts ginger paste, salt and sugar and fry it for 15-20 minutes.
- Now add the powdered spices to the mixture and fry it for 5 more minutes.
- Let it cool and blend it to a smooth paste in a mixer.
- Cut the Paneer into small cubes and keep it aside.
- Heat the blended mixture in a utensil and add beaten curd (with saffron mixed in it) and tomato ketchup to it. (Curd should always be added on low flame to avoid lumping.)
- Bring it to a boil and add green peas to it.
- Cook it for 15 minutes and then add the Paneer cubes to it, cooking them for 5 more minutes.
