Chocolate Walnut Cake

 

This is one of our most favourite cakes and is a must try for all chocolate lovers. The delicious combination of chocolate and walnut with just the hint of coffee makes this a heavenly tasting treat! I bet this is one of the best recipes of cake that you'll ever try! Birthdays, anniversaries or any celebrations, this cake will surely be a hit. Let us have a look at its recipe.

Ingredients :
  • Cocoa Powder - 1/2 cup
  • Coffee - 2 Tsp
  • Butter - 1/2 cup
  • Curd - 2 Tbsp
  • Baking Soda - 2 pinches
  • Baking Powder - 1 and a 1/2 tsp
  • Vanilla Essence - 1/2 Tsp
  • Eggs - 2
  • Sugar - 1 and a 1/2 cup
  • All purpose flour (Maida) - 2 cups
  • Walnuts - 10
  • Chocolate Chips - for decoration 
  • For Ganache - Chocolate - 100g and whipping cream - 1/3rd cup
Method :

  • Add cocoa powder in a bowl. 
  • Now, boil coffee in 1/2 cup water and mix the coffee water to the cocoa powder. Mix it well so that no lumps are formed. 
  • Add melted butter to it and mix well. 
  • Beat curd smoothly in another bowl and add 250 ml water to it and beat it further to make it butter milk. Add it to the cocoa powder mixture and mix well.
  • Add baking soda and baking powder to it and mix well.
  • Now, add vanilla essence and eggs to the mixture and beat them well.
  • Add sugar and whisk it for around a minute.
  • Add all purpose flour to it and mix well. It should turn into a smooth batter after mixing well. Now, whisk it well for 2 minutes.
  • Break the walnuts into tiny bits and mix it with the batter.
  • Grease the baking tin with a little butter and pour the batter into it.
  • Bake it in an oven at 170 degrees C for 35-40 minutes.
Chocolate Walnut Cake
  • In the meanwhile, add scraped chocolate  along with whipping cream in a utensil and melt it on low flame, stirring it continuously to see that no lumps are formed. The ganache is ready! 
  • When the cake is ready, take it out of the oven and let it cool completely.
  •  Now, transfer it to a plate and pour the ganache over the cake, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle some chocolate chips to decorate it and refrigerate for atleast 2-3 hours for it to set.
