Green Chutney | Coriander Mint Chutney

 

This green chutney is a delicious condiment which can be had with various food items such as vegetarian sandwich, a plain butter sandwich, cutlets, kebabs, tandoori chicken, dals, or with plain and simple dal rice. This chutney is usually on the spicier side and the spice can be adjusted as per your needs. Let us have a look at its recipe.

Ingredients (500-700 ml):

  • Bhavnagri Green Chillies (or any other fat green chillies)  - 5-6
  • Coriander leaves - 1 huge bunch
  • Mint Leaves (Pudina) - 10-12 stems
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Coconut - 1/2
  • Garlic - 6-7 cloves
  • Cumin seeds (Jeera) - 1-1 and a half tbsp
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste 
Method:
  • Add finely chopped pieces of coconut to a mixer jar and grind it till it turns fine.
  • Add cumin seeds, garlic, chopped chillies, lemon juice, salt and sugar and grind it.
  • Add chopped coriander and mint leaves to it and grind it once again, adding a little water (approximately 1/4th cup), till the mixture turns equally smooth.
  • Store it in a container and refrigerate it.
