Puri Bhaji

 

Puri Bhaji is a tasty Indian dish which can be had as a breakfast item as well as a lunch/dinner item , depending on the appetite of the individual. All potato lovers are sure to enjoy having it. Let us have a look at it's recipe !

Ingredients for Potato Bhaji (3 servings) :
  • Potatoes - 6
  • Curry Leaves - 3 stems
  • Onions - 3
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 Tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 Tbsp
  • Green chillies - 3
  • Garlic - 6-8 Cloves
  • Asafoetida - 1-2 Pinches 
  • Dry Mango (Amchur) Powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Sugar - 1 Tsp
  • Salt to Taste 
  • Oil - 5-6 Tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Method for Potato Bhaji :
  • Peel the Potatoes and pressure cook them till they are 3/4th done.
  • Heat oil in a utensil , add finely chopped garlic , finely chopped green chillies , cumin seeds , mustard seeds , asafoetida and curry leaves to it.
  • Add finely chopped onions and cook them till they are golden-brown.
  • Add sugar , salt and turmeric powder and fry them for 2 minutes.
  • Add the par boiled potatoes and mix it with the onion mixture and cook it till the potatoes are absolutely soft.
  • Mash them a little bit so that the flavour gets absorbed and it's good to serve !
