Bhindi Batata Fry

Fried Bhindi / Lady Finger with Potatoes recipe in Maharashtrian style
Bhindi Batata Fry , also known as Sookhi Bhindi ki Sabzi or Aloo Bhindi Fry , is a Maharashtrian dish which is very easy to make . It is a combination of lady fingers / Okra and potatoes. The dish , if cooked properly , can taste good inspite of the minimum amount of ingredients added to it. As it is a dry dish , it can be very convenient to carry it and eat it while travelling. Let us have a look at its recipe .

Ingredients (3-4 Servings) :
  • Lady Finger - 750 g
  • Potatoes - 2-3

  • Cumin Seeds (Jeera) - 1 Tbsp
  • Dry Mango Powder (Amchur Powder) - 1 Tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tsp
  • Salt to Taste
  • Oil - 5-6 Tbsp
Method :
  • Heat oil in a utensil (Preferably a Kadhai) and add mustard seeds , cumin seeds , dry mango powder , turmeric powder and fry for a few seconds.
  • Cut lady finger and potatoes to the desired size and add it to the fried mixture.
  • Mix it thoroughly and cook it till it is done.
  • After turning off the stove , add salt to it. (This step is necessary so that the lady finger doesn't get sticky).
