Tamota ma Gosht | Mutton in Tomatoes
Tamota ma Gosht (Mutton in Tomatoes) is a Parsi dish which can be had by
itself or with
Khichri. It should be had mainly in summers to cool off the body. Let us have a look
at its recipe.
Ingredients (4 Servings) :
- Onions - 3
- Tomatoes - 7-8
- Ginger Paste - 1 Tsp
- Garlic - 5-6 Cloves
- Cumin Seeds (Jeera) - 1 Tsp
- Sugar - 1-2 Tbsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Kashmiri chilli Powder - 1 Tsp
- Green Chillies - 2-3
- Mutton - 7-8 Pieces
- Salt to taste
- Oil - 6-7 Tbsp
- Heat oil in a utensil and add finely chopped garlic, finely chopped green chillies and cumin seeds to it.
- After a minute, add finely chopped onions to it and then add salt and sugar.
- Once the onions are soft and pink, add ginger paste to it and cook it for another minute.
- Add Turmeric powder and Kashmiri chilli powder to the mixture and let them fry for a minute.
- Now, add finely chopped tomatoes to it.
- Meanwhile, pressure cook the mutton for 4 whistles and 20 minutes on low flame. (Make sure the mutton is dry and has no water.)
- Once the pressure from the cooker is released, add mutton to the tomato gravy and cook it for one minute.
Tip - If you want to have it as tomato soup, strain the whole
mixture through a strainer.
