Malido | Gehun ke Aate ka Halwa | Wheat Flour Halwa

Malido
Malido , also known as Gehun ke Aate ka Halwa or wheat flour halwa is a tasty sweet dish which is easy to cook and requires minimum ingredients that are easily available at home. Malido is the Parsi name of wheat flour halwa. Have a look at its recipe.

Ingredients (For 1 Big Bowl)
  • Wheat Flour - 1 Cup
  • Sugar - 1 Cup
  • Ghee - 1 Cup
  • Fine semolina (Barik Rava)- 1/4th Cup
  • Water - 3 Cups
  • Almonds (Or dry fruits of your choice) - 8-10
  • Green Cardamom (Chhoti Elaichi) Powder - 1 Tsp
  • Nutmeg (Jaifal) Powder - 1/4th Tsp
Method :
  • Make sugar syrup , boiling the sugar in water till the sugar melts.
  • Take a non-stick kadhai and add the ghee to it.
  • Heat it a bit and add the wheat flour and fine semolina to it.
  • Keep stirring it continuously for around 15 minutes or till the colour darkens.
  • Gradually add the sugar syrup , little by little , stirring it continuously. (Make sure lumps aren't formed)
  • Keep cooking it on low flame till the ghee separates from the mixture. this may take around 20-25 minutes.
  • Add the green cardamom powder and nutmeg powder to it and mix thoroughly.
  • Scrape the almonds and add half of the scrapings to the mixture and keep the other half for garnishing. 
  • Transfer it to a bowl and let it set.
