Chicken Steak Burger

 

Chicken Burger
So you are in the mood for some restaurant-style fast food to be made at home? Here's a simple recipe to make this delicious treat at home and I'm sure everyone will love it! 

Ingredients (Makes 6 Burgers) :

  • Burger Buns - 6
  • Chicken Breast - 600-800 g (Cut into 6 pieces)
  • Onions - 2-3
  • Tomatoes - 1-2
  • Capsicum - 2
  • Cheese Slices - 6
  • Lettuce (Preferably Iceberg Lettuce) - 1
  • Curd - 2 tbsp
  • Ginger paste - 1-2 tsp
  • Egg - 1
  • Cornflour - 2 tbsp
  • Kashmiri Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Barbeque sauce - 1-2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • For Burger Sauce - Mayonnaise (Click here for its recipe) - 3-4 tbsp, Tomato ketchup - 1 tbsp, Chilli sauce - 1 tbsp, Black pepper powder - 1/2 tsp 
Please note - If you are using the readymade mayonnaise to make the sauce, make sure to add 1 tbsp of mustard powder or mustard sauce to it.

Method :
  • Put cuts on the chicken breast pieces, marinate them with ginger paste, salt, curd, Kashmiri chilli powder and turmeric powder and keep aside for 30-40 minutes.
  • In the meanwhile, prepare the burger sauce by adding tomato ketchup and chilli sauce and black pepper powder to the mayonnaise. Mix well and keep aside.
  • Beat the egg in a bowl and add cornflour, a pinch of black pepper and salt to it and mix well.
  • Dip the chicken breast pieces in the egg mixture and shallow fry it in a grill pan on both sides till they are completely done.
  • Cut the onions, tomatoes and capsicum into rings and fry them individually with 1/4th tsp of barbeque sauce. Keep the fried vegetables aside.
  • In the same pan, add 1/2 tsp barbeque sauce and lightly saute the chicken steaks for a minute on both sides, just for it to pick up the barbeque sauce flavour. 
  • Lightly toast the burger buns and apply the burger sauce adequately on both sides. Place the chicken steak on the burger bun and add an adequate amount of the fried vegetables (and lettuce - if available) on top of chicken steak. Now, add a slice of cheese on top of the fried vegetables and cover it with the top half of the bun.
Tips -
  •  If you like, you can toast the burger buns or you can have it untoasted as per your preference. Similarly, if you like the vegetables uncooked, then you can keep them raw.
  • If you want the cheese to be melted, place it in the microwave for a minute or two.
  • It is usually served with french fries or tomato ketchup.
